housing for the masses: master list

Buenos Aires, housing for the masses, vivienda social, master list

I can’t lie… I’m proud of this series of posts written in 2007 & 2008. While only the years from 1910 to 1950 are covered, researching & photographing housing projects in Buenos Aires became a passion. La Teja compiled more information in 2010, & I’m thrilled that they included projects up to the present. But I’m content with being first and making this info available in English 😉

Read all 28 posts in the order listed below. Due to the inherent structure of blogs —new posts first, older ones last— most of this content resides at the very end of Line of Sight. I may not have written about each project chronologically, but this order reflects my exploration of an often neglected facet of Buenos Aires.

Google deleted all my custom maps designed for this website without any warning. But if I can find the time, I’ll make another —definitely not in Google Maps— so everyone can better see the distribution of housing projects throughout the city.

I would like to thank all the people who helped with this series, especially those who live in these buildings now & took the time to talk with me, tell me their stories & send me photos. Even with all the research that’s been done, so much more needs to be done. There’s material for several Master’s degrees or PhD’s just waiting…
