The Huéznar River —sometimes written Huesna, as it can also be pronounced— begins near San Nicolás del Puerto & meanders to a large reservoir before emptying into the Guadalquivir. Known for a long series of cascades, the riverbed creates a real oasis in an otherwise semi-dry area. We’ve only begun to explore trails here & will add more content as our walks progress.
I’m beginning to incorporate more video to this blog, so enjoy the sound of water flowing peacefully by. At many points, it’s possible to stand or sit on rocks so that you’re in the center of the river. This is our local source for drinking water, & in 2022 one of the few areas in Andalucía not experiencing drought conditions:
