In a previous incarnation of this blog, I posted a series of then & now shots from around Buenos Aires… an interesting way to look at the city. All sorts of problems need to be overcome: different makes of cameras, different fields of view, & increased traffic/people. Some pics have years when known, but most do not. Enjoy comparing the past & the present!
A set from Retiro taken in 2006:
A single shot of the Obelisco:
Several from Diagonal Norte, also from 2006:
As Jane Austen said: It is a truth universally aknowledged that a neon sign of CocaCola or McDonald’s ruin every view, whatever the year.
Definitely agree. But the new panel on 9 de Julio is kinda cool… only because it’s so high-tech. I’m sure the novelty will wear off soon 🙂
Hi Robert,
In case you did not see these photos in La Nacion today. Fantastic!

Thanks, Daniel! I saw them this morning… in fact, I even posted my own set from Sunday in Facebook. If you’re on FB, friend me 🙂 Saludos!
Long time no seeing but a pleasure still to read and see your blog… the Jane Austen quote mode me laugh out loud.
I do thank ElRicky for that. =)
Hi Juan! Good to know you’re stiil around! Hopefully still not working at the same hotel 😉 Abrazo!
